Day: 01 (Wednesday) New Delhi – The Capital State

After a warm and traditional welcome of the guests, Palace on Wheels pulls off it chain from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi. You will be escorted to your personal cabins by khidmatgars or the personal attendants. Before that you have the option to get photographs clicked with conventionally dressed staff of Palace on Wheels. Get charged up for a week long journey by relaxing at the bar lounge. Treat yourself with scrumptious dinner that will be served 07:30 pm onwards in dining coach.

Day: 02 (Thursday) Jaipur – Popular Pink City

Palace on wheels takes it first halt in the pink city of Jaipur. Regarded as the India’s first planned city of world class infrastructure, it was built in 1727 A.D. by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. You will be catered by an air conditioned shuttle that will take you on an excursion that will cover the popular highlights like Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar etc. Enjoy shopping at multihued markets of the city from where you can shop from a wide range of ethnic jewelry, authentic handicrafts of Rajasthan, terra cota products and beautiful jootis.
Later you will be taken back to Palace on Wheels by same bus where you can relax as train head towards its next destination.

Day: 03 (Friday)

The third day is full of adventure as you visit wildlife sanctuaries in Sawai Madhopur in first half and historical monuments of Chittaurgarh in later half of the third day. Your excursion will start after you have a healthy morning breakfast on board.
Sawai Madhopur – Tiger City The city inherits its name from its founder Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I. A visit is organized to Ranthambhore National Park, where ruins of a 10th century fort are situated. It is considered to be Nation’s best wildlife sanctuary to observe and click actions of tigers. Spread over 392sq. km, this sanctuary inhabits over 300 species of birds with tiger, jackal, fox and hyena contributes to the population of carnivorous. Sawai Madhopur is famous for its toys, ethnic jewelry and attires. Later you return back to train and leave for Chittaurgarh.
Chittaurgarh – the land of historical fort
On your way to Chittaurgarh you will find yourself lost in the fascinating sketch drawn by passing sunlight on the canvas of nature. Located on top of a 180 m high hillock, great Chittor Hill fort is spread over an expanse of 700 acres. Its holds a reputed place in the golden chapters of Indian history and narrates heroic tales of Rajput warrior rulers to whole world. At 04:30 in the evening you will head for an exciting drive on a zig-zag road passing through seven giant entrances shielded by watch towers. Here you will spend leisure time in which you can cover majestic palaces, sequel of water bodies and temples. After this day long excursion you will return to you luxurious abode and have your dinner.

Day: 04 (Saturday) Udaipur- The Lake Town

Fourth day you will reach the spectacular town of Udaipur, complimented by its several beautiful lakes and exquisite palaces. The royal Sisodia family shifted to Udaipur in 16th century seeing the constant risk over Chittor Fort. At 08:30 in the morning you will visit City Palace sub divided into a number of parts. Afterwards get ready to witness a beautiful royal creation called Lake Palace. It dates back to 17th century and still has a youthful charm. Embark on boat ride in exotic lake surrounding the palace and click photographs of palace that now offers facilities of a luxury hotel. After lunch and shopping you will return back to the train.

Day: 05 (Sunday) Jaisalmer – Heart of Thar Desert

In 1156 A.D. Rawal Jaisal founded the beautiful city of Jaiselmer in the center of Thar Desert. The yellow sandstone fort is an impressive sight, dominating the entire city magnificently. Explore the meticulously designed mansions with their splendid frontage. The Patwon-ki-haveli, Nathmalji-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli are excellent examples of the sophistication and grandeur, royal families of Rajasthan believed in. Enjoy shopping for products like pattu shawls, silver jewelry, mirror work, embellished articles, wooden boxes and trinkets. Later after lunch, enjoy camel rides over the crest and trough of sand dunes. Evening tea along with cultural program is prearranged at a luxurious hotel. Return to the train for dinner.

Day: 06 (Monday) Jodhpur

Situated at the periphery of the Thar Desert, the majestic town of Jodhpur dates back to 15th century and narrates the tales of ancient times. At 08:30 in the morning you will proceed for sightseeing that includes trip to Mehrangarh Fort complex. It was built in 15th century on top of a hill towering 125 m over the town. You get to enter the fort after crossing a chain of entrances but the moment you are at the fort, you will be taken aback by the beauty of the place. Its museum has a wide collection of imperial dresses and weapons. Later enjoy lunch and return back to the train.

Day: 07 (Tuesday) Bharatpur

Early morning on seventh day, palace on wheels will reach Bharatpur- the former capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal. After having a delicious morning meal, you will visit Keoladeo Ghana National Park- previously known as Bharatpur bird sanctuary. It is an avifauna sanctuary that shelters three hundred species of migratory as well as native birds. Counted as world heritage site, this place is a major tourist attraction in Rajasthan. Transfer to the train as you will now head towards Agra.
Agra
Rest half of seventh day will be much more exciting as you will arrive in the city of love – Agra. First you will visit Agra fort and soon after lunch the excursion will move towards Taj Mahal. One of the Seven Wonders of the World it was built by great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It echoes an undying love story through its beautiful architecture and great marble work. Agra has a lot to offer. You can Shop for souvenirs that represent small replicas of Taj Mahal from the famous markets of Agra. Agra is also famous for its leather works and ornaments. After this day long excursion you will return back to the train for dinner and overnight stay. Palace on Wheels will head towards Delhi.

Day: 08 (Wednesday) Delhi

Early in the morning you will reach back to Delhi at Safdurjung Railway Station. Breakfast will be served before check out from the train. The journey will come to a beautiful end leaving you occupied with unforgettable memories of this wonderful trip.
